Well hi there readers.
Just stopping in to say that I'm leaving EVE. It takes such a big chunk of my time, and is now awkward with certain people being there, and its what I need to do. To re-focus myself and really work on what I want.
Who knows, maybe I'll be back- people say you can never really leave EVE, but for now, its adios. I'm still gonna make EVE videos, because I enjoy making them, but you can't really have an EVE blog without actually playing EVE! hehe.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me in my piracy, and good luck with the future peeps :)
o7 Fly dangerous, and farewell.

P.S. If you really wanna still be in contact with me, I has email at jjowen92@gmail.com.

New Idea for an EVE Video
What ya reckon bout this one?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6nGHYFNbSM
Don't know if I'll finish it. Sort of a test of the flashing effect. Not perfect, but worth a go I think.

Authors Note: Feel sorry for me dammit! xD
Well, I'm awfully busy at the moment, so EVE isn't exactly at the top of my list at the moment. Uni is crazily hectic (have to have two 2000 word research essays done, 10 x 100 word posts about readings from the semester, a 1500 word creative piece and then a 500 word exegesis about said piece, and a photography assignment which needs a 500 word annotated bibliography >.< and 10 film slides.... all by the 14th!) After the 14th I'm totally on holidays though, so YAY to less work and YAY to more blog posts!!! See you on the other side folks! o/
UPDATE: Have the creative piece done, just need exegesis on it, have a good outline for one of the two essays, have finished the project brief for the photography assignment, and 5 out of 10 reading notes done. I can feel a little breathing room!

Reflections on the Women of EVE Online
EVE Online and women. Some people think they just don't go together, and even some who think they shouldn't go together. I, being a girl, obviously have a biased opinion here, but I think girls can play whatever games they damn well please! I for one, love PC games, particularly good MMO's like EVE. I know this has all been covered a lot, but I'm not sure so much by women, so maybe it'd be a new take on some ideas.
I've had some rather amusing reactions when guys have heard me talking on comms for the first time. Areolae, a really nice Tuskers guy asked me if I was a girl or a really young guy the first time I spoke, and Awarmingcoat- Coatsie went quite for a couple of minutes and then said 'a girl?' in a really questioning voice. I once had Ohms Law and Captain John Critchon PvP to 'defend my honour and win the hand of the lady', which of course wasn't on offer at the time, but hey, it was fun to watch and listen to with all the old fashioned 'knightly' talk. I can even say I was responsible for a war declaration on R1FTA, from a corp called 'Horrortears' (its still there somewhere) which my ex before 3D amusingly made JUST for that purpose. Go figure :P
Needless to say, a lot of guys just don't expect to see ladies in their comms or their corps, and its amusing and sometimes sad the reactions it gets. There is the odd negative one, like the guy that tried to hit on me in Rens local (telling me he'd 'give me the greatest night of my life'), and another who questioned why I was even playing because I'm a girl and 'girls can't play EVE'. I promptly took him out where he was ratting in his belt. ;) I left the system with a simple 'Wanna bet?'
Anyways, I am getting to a point here. Heh.
The boys were ganking today and in comms, just having fun and trying to get some nice kills, (Naoru got a 2 and a half bill loki pod lol) so I jumped in and joined em, no problem, same old. Then Tilar, a really nice chick from 7-2 came on, and we just went on as usual. She hopped right in with us and went straight to it. Just same, normal, somewhat boring day in Molden Heath.
What made me think about this all was when a guy called Mitch (a mate of the corp from Shadow Cartel) jumped into comms to see what was what and listened for a few minutes while we finished up a gank. He then proceeded to ask Diz how the hell did they manage to get so many girls in comms. I had a quick giggle while Diz replied with a simple 'We're just that sexy', before I piped in with a quick 'funny how two girls equals 'so many''. ThC and 7-2 combined have 4 girls (I'm pretty sure)... does that make us an army of girls? A mass of girls? A crowd? A squadron of girls? (That might actually be a fun concept for fleets :P Tackle girls heh).
Anyways, this topic also popped up briefly earlier today when we were talking about 3D's new corp/alliance. They have a few girls that wander around in their comms, and its of mah hun's opinion that if there's a girl or two (nice ones anyways) hanging around, it must mean that the guys in said corp aren't that bad and that its not a bad experience being around them. So basically if there's a woman in a corp they're more likely to have nicer guys making up the corp- which makes sense and I agree with. I for one know I'm not gonna hang around in the corp where every second word is explicit or racist and where no one has anything nice to say to each other, and I'm certainly not going to sit in comms with them. It makes sense. I mean, there is probably the odd chick who likes the rude and mean side of people, and even gives as good as she gets, but I have yet to meet one, so not so relevant to my ideas on the matter.
As this has been a talked about topic lately, and I've been thinking about such things, I've compiled a list of types of girls I've met in EVE (or heard about), that I personally think are the variations of female that one can find in this quintessentially man's world.
Like I said, I've never met an intentionally mean girl in EVE, but I have seen girls take advantage of their sex, using their womanly wiles to get ISK and items out of the poor men who become infatuated with them, who they tease incessantly to have it continue for as long as they need to get the freebies. This makes me angry, but I know it happens, and it probably won't stop. Hells even I had a quick go at it while I was in R1FTA, and it sure as hell works! (I quickly realised, while it works, it makes me an attention seeking bitch, so I halted that almost immediately. XD) Mintchip is probably the most well known gold-digger chick in EVE, with her 'wishlist/giftlist' or whatever it was, encouraging people to buy stuff for her, while shameless flirting with people. Each to their own.
On a side note, I did feel quite sorry for Mintchip when she got employed by CCP and the accusations that she flirted her way in and such came straight at her. Even if she did, she doesn't deserve abuse thrown in her face.
The second type of chick is one that the guys around her don't really see, because its strictly reserved for incoming women. Because we're so... rare, I guess is the best word, its often seen as pretty awesome when guys have a chick or two in their corp. I guess its like a dick measuring contest, but witch chicks instead. Who knows, but often they get put up on some sort of pedestal, and hey, some chick really like that. Suddenly their put into the spotlight, bragged about to other men, and they sometimes get a big head. So when the new girl shows up.... oh boy. Miss secret bitch is nice in comms, supporting the new recruit and being sweet and helpful, and sometimes, even when alone together, the claws don't come out. But here is a sickly sweet sort of 'this is my territory, these are MY boys.. go away and leave me on my pedestal in peace. But I'm gonna be nice to you until you leave so that the boys don't see I'm a bitch'. They're the worst, and remind you why women can be the most evil people in the world around men. The subcategory is the region owner- the self-dubbed 'queens' of wherever they live. Not so extreme, but so help you if you try and be princess. Again, even I love the fact I'm the only chick in my corp- its very cool, particularly when they are an awesome PvP, low sec pirate corp, and lets be honest, if say, a type 1 girl came in and started flirting with all the boys, getting that attention, I'd be pissed. But in all honesty, I'm just not like that, I'd get over it quickly, and move on being an awesome tackle.
The giggly grenade is one of my personal demons. I have done this one a lot, being a young, happy, occasionally attention seeking girl, and lay on the cute thickly. This was what I was like early days of EVE, while I was in BDFS and R1FTA, and it worked. I'd always be talked to in comms, I'd always get that attention in channel. What I found out pretty quickly was that when it came down to it, doing this achieved nothing, because suddenly I was the small, cute, giggly girl in channel and couldn't be taken seriously, I obviously had no idea what I was doing, and reduced to a chick who always needs help and support and can't possibly do anything for herself. Not fun, I can tell you, so that snapped off quickly. Unfortunately, I find that, on some slow days, I occasionally slip back into it, before catching myself, logging out for a bit, and relaxing. Honestly, what it does most is annoy people, and I learnt that one the hard way. I still occasionally see them though, and this worries me- I know what its like.
The Vasquez chick is so named because its the classic Aliens character- a woman who has to be even manlier than the men to be taken seriously- the certified 'bad-asses', that no one really wants to mess with. These are hard to find, because honestly, its so hard to do that and do it well, and there's absolutely no point trying, because either guys are gonna love it and see you as 'just-one-of-the-guys', or you're gonna intimidate them and they're gonna not want you around- simply because your manlier than them. (Psst... men don't like women being manlier than them :P Well... most anyways. XD) Good luck if you ever find this type of chick.
The final real sorta type of chick are the ones that I know mostly- the ones that are themselves, plain and simple, and enjoy playing the game that they love. I'm mostly one of these, with segments of other types thrown in occasionally, but I take pride in being myself. Pretty much all of the women I meet are like this- they enjoy the game they play, and people don't really give a damn whether their female or not- they're just plain good people to fly around and talk to. They're the ones I like. ^.^
In the end I guess you're whatever sort of person you wanna be, and girls are whoever they wanna be on any online game. I'm gonna be me and be happy with it ^.^
And boys, if you ever hear a girl you like on comms or want to impress, don't squeal and say 'is that really a girl?' :P
NAUGHTY CARGO'S UNOFFICIAL TYPES OF EVE WOMEN
1. The shameless flirt/golddigger
2. The secret bitches a.k.a 'get away from my boys, bitch' girl. (with a sub-type)
3. The giggly/cute grenades
4. Overly tomboyish a.k.a The Vasquez Complex.
5. The awesome, natural girls
AND.......
6. Me :P (have occasionally been a bit of each, depending on my mood, what's happening, and the people around me XD)
Like I said, I've never met an intentionally mean girl in EVE, but I have seen girls take advantage of their sex, using their womanly wiles to get ISK and items out of the poor men who become infatuated with them, who they tease incessantly to have it continue for as long as they need to get the freebies. I'M ALIVE!!!!!
Hi space cadets. I'm still alive I promise. Unless of course I'm dead and don't realise it, but I can't REALLY be dead, because this corporal punishment that is higher education still surrounds me. Go figure.
SOOOO!..... Since last time I wrote, I
1. Became a billionaire in EVE (c/o 3D <3)
2. Went to America for a holiday
3. Re-sculpted Naughty
4. Failed at flying a stiletto
5. Reached 20,000,000 skill points AT LAST!
6. Decided that film photography (specifically slide film) is totally stupid
ANDDDDDD
6. Trained.... large blasters.
Yep. I've conformed and upshipped. I still love my Jags, and they will be my preferred fighting machine for now I'm sure, but I felt like flying something a little more... sturdy :P Let's face it, even with the best tank skills my beautiful Rawrcat can only take so much, so cruisers here I come! Well.. battlecruisers.
I was trying to decide what cruiser to branch into and between me, 3D and Diz, we decided that it'd be easier just to skip straight to something BC considering I have battlecruisers up to 5 because of that blasted expansion. So large guns here I come! I brought a Thorax and a Brutix, fitted them up using our default corp armor setup (everything but the guns anyways!), and waited. And waited.... and waited.
While I was training for this seemingly overly long process to finish (and yes, I have no patience, and yes, I know its going to get worse :P), 7-2 decided to have a weekend over in Tasti for a change of scene- and to try and find some actually decent fights. My corp convinced me to train for Interceptors- so discussion had, 30 minutes later I was flying around in a stiletto.That... uh.... didn't go so well. Did you know that stiletto's are awfully quick? Turns out my manual piloting skills aren't so great (which was incredibly embarrassing for Diz- who was acting as my play-around bait), so there's somewhere I found out I gotta work on.
Anyways, I ended up finishing the training for the BC's and now... they're sitting in my cargo hold collected dust :P go figure. I think I might help out with some sites maybe, waiting for a cool fleet to go out.
As for the billionaire business, my man won a big blink... for a titan. Lucky bugger! The dude kindly offered him the isk instead of the ship.I believe his title now is something like 'Blink is my Titan bitch', which I actually quite like ^.^
Also, a fun side observation, in two days I'll have been in ThC for 8 months :) It doesn't seem that long really, but its pretty damn cool, considering I was only with R1fter for about 5. ThC is awesome, the guys are awesome, Naughty is awesome, so I'm good ^.^ I've found my EVE home/family in the bunch of ragtag, rude, good-for-nothing, stinky pirates :P hehe. To celebrate (that's the excuse I'm using anyways XD), I brought a plex and re-sculpted my girl. She now had badass red hair, less hollow cheeks (they were driving me crazy!) and more realistic looking tits :P Oh and her eyes changed colour, but who really notices? lol. I'm quite proud of my new re-done bio, my new title and new look. Naughty is ready for some kickass action as an established pirate in her home of Molden Heath... which has a certain pretentiousness to it in PVP circles :P
Anywayyyyyyssssss.... On an end note, I just have a couple of things I need to get off my chest. I take pride in the fact I don't smack talk in local, no matter how angry someone is making me. Sometimes I'll send the snide commenter a mail telling them exactly where they can stick their opinions, but generally, I try to keep clear of all that crap. So, because its all slowly building up (and I'm sure many of you can relate to this feeling....
UNDOCK PEOPLE!! ACTUALLY GIVE US A DECENT FIGHT!!! I KNOW YOU FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE DOCKING EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE MORE SHIPS THAN US BY 5, BUT YOU FUCKIN COWARDS!!!!!!!!!! YOU JERK FACES!! YOU WANT TO GANK NOT FRIGGIN HAVE AN ACTUAL FIGHT YOU COMPLETE AND UTTER BONEHEADS!! HOW CAN YOU EVEN CALL YOURSELF PVP'S WHEN YOU DON'T EVEN PVP!!! BULLET AVERSE FUCKTARDS!!!! Death by Kitties feat. Gate 'Shoot 'Em Up' Ping Pong
I've been excited for Sugar's rawrcats fleet for ages, ever since I first heard about it. I love me a Jag remember- in fact, its pretty much all I fly now cause it works so well with the fleets :) ANYWAYS... for those of you who don't know, the Rawrcats is a fleet made up of Jaguars, with a few Scythes, a Maller and a couple of Loki's. I admit... I had my doubts about 20 odd Jaguars, but it turns out that few people are prepared for a large gang of assault frigs-its not exactly conventional... hehe.
As those of you who live in the are are aware, or those who are perceptive, Molden Heath has changed. I think its for the better, but some think its worse... I don't know. What do you think? There's a few bigger corps that have come in and set themselves up, no one daring to argue, and they like blop dropping and just mainly being pains in the ass. But today... oh today we got some of them back with our own blop... of JAGUARS! Hah! Take that cowards! :P
It was great fun getting started. The fleet looked amazing- visually anyways, and I can't remember the last time I saw so many frigs! It was epic :) And such a mix of people too! A few from 7-2, a couple of guys from R1FTA, Suleiman from Tuskers and a few other individuals, as well as various members of our own corp- with Diz, naturally, as the FC of choice. He was elected for it too. If that's not high praise, I don't know what it.
Originally, we started heading for Skarkon, after some gang or another (I can't remember much from the morning- it seems so long ago now! Haha. And it was 8am mind you :P). The usually devoid-of-life-we-can-actually-kill Molden Heath turned out to be the most fruitful area of our venture. Jumping into Audesder, there was a CRONOS gang doing some sort of planet-y thing (I've since found out it was orbital bombardment according to Sugar's blog :P hehe). They tried bailing when the big bunch of Jags showed up on their overview, no doubt flooding it with red, but we were just too well spread out when it came to pointing things. Me? I ended up splitting my guns to get on a number of kills (5/7) and made sure I had at least 3 ships locked on my screen at any one time (in order of primaries and secondaries) to allow for easy point switching. It was great fun :) We ended up getting 2 Myrmidons, a Blackbird, a Nado, a Drake and 2 Osprey's. Great start!
A Noir/Hash (6-pack) gang was the next intended target- battlecruisers galore. They were on the Muttoken gate in Aedald (or vice versa, I can't remember which), and we jumped on them in all our feline glory, logi and support in tow. Targeting the flashy red ones was the first task- Jags can only take gate guns for so long (as I know VERY well... xD)
Anyways, we jumped them, they decided to jump through to the other side of the gate. A little less than half the gang jumped through with them, targeting the same on the other side. Pity I only got on 3 of the 8 kills really :P The fight was so extended I think my part in whoring on the kills wore off by the end! Or maybe I just didn't have as many points or shots as I expected... go figure :P
-Oh, and we totally got a Vexor, Augoror, Drake and Maulus on the Aedald side, and 2 Hurricanes and 2 Drakes on the Muttoken side. Epic ^.^
We realised at this point none of us really had enough ammo if things kept on being as awesome as they were already. We all headed back to Bos and reloaded everything, trading and buying happening left, right and center, with the odd bio break. That done, we casually went to Klingt and killed a Rise of Legion Deimos that was happily ratting.. You know.. as you do (and we've all decided we enjoy killing ROL when we get the chance :P... I think. Or maybe that's just me :P)
By that point- and here I rely on Sug's attention to details, we had 20 Jags, 5 Scythes, a Maulus and a random Hawk. (AUTHORS NOTE: I decided for myself that hawk counted because a hawk mixed with a lion creates a griffin... which is sort of a cat-like creature...?? Maybe..?? XD)
As we continued, heading towards Amamake, someone decided to do a side step into L4X-1V, and on scanning, two ships were discovered... mining. A Venture, an Iteron Mark II and his friend, a Hurricane. Hellz yeah!!! Squad 1 (the lucky buggers :P) went in to get tackle, and we all filed in after them, managing to get all three of the ships and their pods. Fun fun :P
Mateber and Ofage produced one of the coolest fights I've had yet. Sort of a mix of ping pong and a shoot 'em up. There was a gate camping fleet... that started to ditch as soon as we spiked local. Or tried to :P Much like earlier, a little less than half the fleet jumped into the other side with them, grabbing tackles and shooting, while the majority stayed on the first side, shooting and targeting the same ships as they jumped to and fro. It ended up being a long drawn out battle, with one lucky bugger lasting far too long- Count Chamberlain in one of the Augoror's. He jumped through I don't know how many times, and at one point got reps. We had one FC- Diz on the first side, and Suli jumped onto the second side to FC and the other group. It worked out alright, although it got to the point with the last Aug that Diz just said fuck it, and asked for one Jag with long point and a Scythe to stay behind in case he jumped back through when the whole fleet jumped in to help kill it. I offered my services- after all, sitting on gate and pointing stuff in the Jag is considered my specialty :P Plus, most of the Jag's had scrams as opposed to disruptors (In the end I only think three or four of the Jag's had long point XD). Two of the Scythes ended up staying with me while the rest of the fleet jumped into Matebar and blapped him no problem. We ended up shooting a few other randoms as well as the gate camping group, and all in total we got 2 Mallers, a Thorax, 3 Augoror's, an Omen and an Oracle. Great fun :P
Rambling along, incredibly pleased with how the fleet was progressing, we ended up coming across another gate camp in Hagilur, but these ones successfully got away. Well... mostly. Lets just say it was not one poor Oracle pilots day :P
We got to Amamake and started playing stupid station games. No thank you. Luckily, the call was made to just give it up, and for our efforts, we ended up catching an unfortunate Iteron Mark V in Otosela- who tried to get away using a cloak and MWD and failed dismally- to our fleets amusement. He ended up being a pretty good kill, with some specky stuff in the cargo hold. Here I steal a sentence from Sugar's blog- because she knows about such things (and hopes she doesn't mind! ^.^ hehe)- "died with his whole load of Einherji (fighters) on board. Fighters are expensive things and bulky to move." To be honest, I just saw the kill and felt proud. Hehe. Shows my priorities hey? :P And for the record, I have no idea where the loot goes on these big fleets. Probs to Sug and Diz in this case cause they put together all the ships. Makes sense. This is coming from a pilot that relies on loot to survive :P Go figure.
We got back to Bos with no really great events of note, and the fleet was disbanded. But funnily enough, it was this time that Naoru (I think) spotted a Thanatos just sitting on a station in Oddelulf. People shipped up and thought 'why the hell not?' Pity it wasn't meant to be really. 1. He was always in docking range and bumping didn't work, 2. He ended up successfully shooing us out of system by saying he was going to bed, and then undocking again as soon as we left... For our troubles we ended up getting a Rise of Legion tengu on his way through Bos though. Totally worth it :P
After a few more people trickled out and went back to their own places, the corp decided to try its usual gate camp, settling down and basking in our catty awesomeness. And people ask me why I fly Jag's.... :P At one point during the early stages of this camp, a Procurer randomly jumped into system from Heild. I was in station at this point and listened as the rest of them missed point (the bugger was quick off the mark, and Heild is a big gate) and watched him warp off to Teo. With a hint of amusement at my own futile hope, I warped to the Teo gate (where I figured the Procurer had already jumped through). To my surprise, he was there and without even thinking, my hand instinctively fell to the mouse, clicking just as I pressed my F2 key. I can remember marvelling at my own tone of surprise as I called out 'point'. I can only imagine how it sounded to my corpies ears. Haha. Like... 'umm... I think I have point.. here... guys... On the umm... Teo gate... what???' (Or something like that :P) Was a great moment when he died though. I ended up hanging around with point right up to the end of my shield (cause of those friendly gate guns :P), when the first person warped in and got a secondary point. Hero surprise tackle FTW! xD
Apart from the Proc, we ended up getting a Coercer, a Rifter, a Bestower and a Catalyst in the first hour or so. Plus all their pods- which was agreeable to my slightly shinier sec status (I'm back to -9.9.... *cries* XD) For my evil piracy, I paid later. Forgetting what the bright red skull at the top of my screen meant, I jumped into Teo happily with my lots of loot (aforementioned as my main source of income)... and almost banged my head into the wall as I watched myself get completely obliterated by CONCORD. How rude!! They didn't even offer a ransom! Even slightly more embarrassing, this tragic event was seen by a noob in an Ibis sitting on the gate... which I debated shooting at just for shit and giggles while I died horribly. Ran out of time on that one though. 17 mill worth of Thrasher and loot... Hmmm.. oh well. :) I've had worse.
I logged off to spend some time with mah hunny and ended up getting back on briefly- later- to pick up some items I had left in Teo. I didn't even suspect a thing as I bounced out of Bos no problem in one of my basic Ruptures, docked, organised stuff for a few minutes and then undocked again, warping straight back to Bos and not even thinking about jumping through. Figures that a gate camp had decided to show up in the few minutes I was in high sec (the rest of the corp were off doing some sort of black ops thing in Egbinger I think). I lost the rupture to a gate camp made up of a Stabber, 2 Drake's, a Gnosis (>.<), 2 Scythe's and a Ferox. Go figure- beaten at my own corps game. Oh wells. Again, I've had worse. And at least I didn't have any loot this time :P (Luckily, I'd decided to leave it there for Bella to pick up!). I dutifully docked, didn't acknowledge the 'gf's in local, repoted the camp to FMH channel- where I got laughed at :P and logged off. Enough of EVE for now.... Hehe. I knew at that point to quit while I'm ahead! xD
Anyways, the rawrcat fleet ended up being an amazing triumph, and thank you again and again to Sugar and Diz for organising it. But I think the greatest thanks should go to the dear ships that- funnily enough- I already see a few other people flying all of a sudden around MH :P Thank you to the underdog of assault frigates- the Jaguar. May you ever be underestimated and then completely amazing in your defiance of your dated label- in other words... go kill stuff good! XD
